25th Anniversary Quilt

46 blocks, in the Birds in the Air pattern each measuring 5.75” x 5.75” with signatures of members of the Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild. The blocks are set straight with no setting triagles or corners. There are 2 borders: inner border is white measuring 2” in width with 4 corner blocks of blue/white half square triangles. Outer border is dark blue with 4 corner blocks of Birds in tehhAir measuring 6” x 6”. There is embroidery on the inner border: top has name of Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild, Bottom has dates: 1980-2005
Edge Treatment: 3/8" straight grain binding machine stitched to front of quilt and hand stitched to back of quilt.
Quilting Designs: straight line quilting follows blocks, in the ditch, Inner border has scallops and outer border has braided cable quilting.
25th Birthday Quilt 51" X 57"
In 2005 the Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild celebrated their 25th birthday with a party. At that event members signed blocks. The blocks were the result of a block lotto years before and wear donated by winners Carol Bryant and Ruth Felty. In 2006 the board sponsored a design contest for the 25th birthday quilt. Dea Jae Shore won the contest and the blocks were set by a few of the board members. It was basted by the Hand Quilting Bee then quilted by the Institute of Texan Cultures Bee. Ruth Felty bound and finished the quilt including adding a label.
